Parent - Child Assistance Program (PCAP)

Gouk-Gumu Xolpelema implements the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) and uses motivational interviewing to work with clients toward nurturing parenting, positive change, and harm reduction to prevent fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) is focused on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder prevention uses motivational interviewing to work with clients toward nurturing parenting, positive change and harm reduction to prevent FASD. PCAP is goal focused and relationship based. Case managers have a three-year working relationship with their clients, during which they conduct visits with them a minimum of twice per month. Native families are empowered to strengthen their emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual wellness and increase connections to their culture and community so that family members are safe, healthier, happier and more resilient.
