Summary Intervention Name Defending Childhood Initiative Summary This program attempts to prevent children's exposure to violence, reduce it's negative impact and, increase public awareness of such by implementing an approach based in Lakota values and managed by culturally competent and trauma-informed service providers. Program Description Rosebud Sioux Tribe's Defending Childhood Initiative program, Wakanyeja Ta Wiconi Ki Awayang Kuwapi, aims at preventing children's exposure to violence, reduce its negative impact, and increase public awareness by implementing an approach based in Lakota values and managed by culturally competent and trauma-informed service providers. Open to all children on the Rosebud Reservation, 0-17 years of age.
