Friendship House services assist AI/ANs in achieving and sustaining their recovery through a peer recovery support model. The model Friendship House uses is an AI/AN culturally based model built through the expertise of individuals with similar lived experience. All aspects of the practice are guided by the following American Indian traditional healing concepts, including prayer sessions, lodge ceremonies, traditional healers, and acknowledgment of Tribal traditions and traditional ways. Friendship House's philosophy is that recovery is based on culturally based efforts that address trauma, is person-driven, holistic, and is supported by peers, allies and recovery networks.
