Healing House

Summary

The mission of Modoc Nation Behavioral Health’s Healing House is to infuse hope, heal trauma, and foster growth in their community by providing, education, resources, and behavioral health services. The program uses evidence-based practices and healthy connections with people, animals, and the environment to promote personal growth and wellness.

The Healing House program is located within Modoc Tribal Nation boundaries located near Miami, Oklahoma. The program provides outpatient behavioral health treatment to youth and adults (5 years and older), native and non-native, to address issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, family conflict, grief and loss, and more. The program provides counseling services through individual, family, and group therapy, utilizing interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR), Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and experience-based activities like Equine-Assisted Mental Health and Outdoor Therapy. They offer support services through Youth Services Coordinators and Peer Recovery Support Specialists to assist clients to develop life skills and for case management. They also provide training opportunities to community members and professionals that include suicide prevention training – Living Works Safe Talk, and Question. Persuade. Refer. (QPR), Trauma-Informed Care, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and Positive Indian Parenting.
