Native American Motivational Interviewing: Weaving Native American and Western Practices

This manual for counselors in Native American communities provides a tool for making motivational interviewing easy to learn and use in practice with Native American clients. The approach embodied in the manual combines motivational interviewing with the "beliefs, values, and practices of Native people." The team that created the manual was a partnership between academia and substance abuse treatment professionals working in the community that sought to unite academia with indigenous views.
